HOW MANY HOURS SHOULD YOU BOOK?

Photoshoots are meant to be creative. You can’t be creative when you’re crunched on time. But you also don’t want to have too much time where you are reshooting content just cause. That’s also money you’re tossing away! Knowing what you need is important to know prior to shooting.

Minimum time requirements.

Depending on the shoot, I require a different minimum ranging between 2-4 hours. There’s a lot to consider when it comes to timing your photoshoots including set up/clean up times, outfit changes, how many models, how many scenes, and how creative the shoot is.

Brand Shoot

Focuses on you and your brand’s message, capturing imagery that reflects your identity, values, and aesthetic.

The minimum requirement is 2 hours. This is a baseline for a simple studio set, and one outfit with one model. Since the set is simple, set up and clean up will be fairly minimal, allowing you to shoot for a majority of the time.

If you want to shoot multiple outfits, I recommend adding an hour for each outfit change. This gives you time to change and touch up, while still having enough time to get plenty of shots.

If you have a more creative scene or concept, I would allow for an extra hour to hour and a half baseline. More planning will also need to go into this type of shoot, so we can ensure we are utilizing our time appropriately.

E-commerce

Highlights your products with clean, compelling imagery that showcases quality, details, and design.

The minimum requirement is 2 hours. This number can vary depending on the amount of product and what type of product we are shooting. However, this is a baseline for a simple studio set. Since the set is simple, set up and clean up will be fairly minimal, allowing you to shoot for a majority of the time.

If you have multiple models or require clothing changes, I recommend adding an extra 1-2 hours depending on how many models and how many products they need to change into.

If you are shooting specialty product shots like flat lays, vignettes, or ghost images, I would allow for an extra 2 hours so we have plenty of time to set up/clean up and get the perfect shots.

E-commerce Lifestyle

Captures your products in real-life settings, styled settings that highlight their use and vibe, creating authentic, engaging imagery.

The minimum requirement is 3 hours.

Lifestyle

Typically an outdoor shoot to showcase you and your brand’s essence outside of a studio.

The minimum requirement is 4 hours. Because most lifestyle shoots will take place outdoors, we need plenty of time to move around and set up in each spot. A lot more testing is involved in these types of shoots since outdoor lighting can fluctuate.

General rule of thumb.

Always come prepared! When possible, please share your concepts, inspo, and/or shot lists, and I can better prepare myself for the shoot in order to make it as seamless as possible.

When it comes to allotting the right amount of time for your shoot, you know your biz best. But as always, I am here to help guide you through that if you need an extra hand!
